Bulk deleting messages (conversations), both non-trashed and also bulk permanently deleting 'trashed' ones

I seem to be only able to permanently delete 20 'trashed' (a viewing page) messages at a time.
Also the same happens when wanting to delete 'non-trashed' messages..only 20 at a time.
I have over 30 pages of 'trashed' messages and getting on for 30 pages of 'non-trashed'.
So going through the protracted method for one page is going to take ages to delete all the ones that I want to permanently trash.

Is there a way to delete ALL of the 'trashed' message permanently in one go?
Can more than one page of 'un-trashed messages be bulk trashed at the same time?

Mike, don't you cherish those old missives from other forumites ? I'll send you a PM anyway :D

Obviously the powers that be cannot answer this question....

Not sure what the problem is, I selected 83 messages, and then deleted them all together!!

I appear to only be able to show and select 20 trashed messages at a time to permanently delete..how are you selecting 83?

I also do not seem to have the option of trashing 'non-trashed' conversations:

First page click "select" top right, to the bottom tick "select all", next page back to the top click "select" and back to "select all" your tally should be 20, and then next page etc.

This is the correct answer to this question.

Or maybe I have a life away from computers?
if thats ok with you?
Paul, with due respect, I did start this 'Forum Help' post last Wednesday. I was not expecting an immediate reply from yourself as I realise there maybe more important enquiries and that you do have a life away from the forum.
That is why it wasn't until Saturday that I noted that moderators or the administrator (using the term 'powers that may be') had not yet entered the thread.
I was just wondering if there was a way of selecting all of the messages in one hit, that is all.
Apparently there is not, but Jimmy stepped in and has given a solution which you have confirmed so the post enquiry has now been answered

I am sorry that you feel that I have caused you a problem and have been too demanding but anyhow it appears that Greg thinks that it is funny so that is okay isn't it...

I thought it was funny, since I own/moderate about 6 forums and also maintain a big web site.

The cry for help always comes at an inopportune moment, always!

So I was sympathizing. Also I assume that Paul is also receiving a HUGE salary like I am for maintaining these forums.

Greg

p.s. I agree that deleting them 20 at a time is a pain in the a**, should be a way to display all messages so a select all would work, most softwares do indeed have a "number of items to display per page" setting
