Beware I have just got a new quite sophisticated scam email purporting to be an offer on one of my eBay items which leads to a fake eBay site, which tried to get me to log in.
There are some very smart looking fake sites around.
Haven't been lured to one for a while. Bad spelling is usually the giveaway, although I got caught in the summer by a fake site on Facebook. As a result, I won't try to buy anything through an FB advert.
As my browser manages my passwords, if a link takes me to site my browser does not recognise, it will not auto complete the password, so if I need to fill in my own user name and password then its not the real site.
The other thing is if it’s a true offer it should appear in your eBay messages. So ignore the link, log in through your trusted log on and if there is no message you can be sure the email is dodgy.
The other tip off here in the US is the use of advert
Advert is not a word used in the US
I get that a lot when selling on Cregslist locally
I come back with I’ll meet them at the Sheriff office
