Bachmann big hauler tender shells

I am after a few Bachmann Big hauler tender shells. No need for the chassis or trucks just the shell

That would be in the affirmative Dave.

I am 'dressing up' my big haulers and trying to convert them into ones that ran a little later like the T19 and T28. They used higher tenders and that is why my search for some shells is happening. The T28 will need the cab changed a bit and the domes/bell will need swapping around.

I will also attempt a 'poor man's' T12 ('Poor man's' means without changing the chassis.) which had the lower tenders (no need to drastically bash that tender) but the rear driver was spaced to sit under the cab. These ran at an earlier era than the original idea of my line, but one No 175, did last until 1935 and scrapped in 1937, and that one will be the one that I will use.
I might get onto to try to space the driver but I need to get a spare chassis and a spare boiler to add on the length that it had.

yes its not far off,,, shame theres no 260 chassis knocking about as the drivers would be ok leaving simple modification for the bogie etc,,,
its funny as i also have been thinking that a t12 style loco would be nice model to make
so i have been looking for a bashed, dropped ,bust 260 for a while
not many about though,,, ever,,
even with the big h wheelbase it would look ok, bit like the rgs 20 22 and 25

Yes, I too have looked for a 2-6-0 that was in need of TLC to 'bash' but unfortunately, like you, none seemed to surface. I have a 2-6-0 but it is pristine, is being labelled for BCRR (as soon as I make the transfers!) and it will remain so.
The RGS design was also an option (like minds, eh David). Although my layout is loosely mainline and narrow gauge D&RGW with the freelance 'Beaver Creek Railroad', I could always get away with bringing in a RGS loco or two..........

Dave the T19 and T28 were standard gauge but I will have to 'bend' the reality a bit and pair them with a mixture of narrow gauge (1:24 and 1:22.5 scales) and standard gauge (1:29 scale) rolling stock. Gradually I will rationalise my rolling stock roster and make trains that are nearer to being pure breeds!
There are a couple of preserved T12 locos and they do look good. 168 and 169 are in Colorado.
175 was really the last working one and just about fits in with the earliest era that my layout covers

Excellent stuff Woders. I think that I had seen this somewhere before but a long time back and had completely forgotten about it. At least I remembered the 'poor man's' bit!
Thanks you for reminding me, it is a great demonstration of what to do. The final product is a credit to you.

I have got hold of brass headlights, marker lights and some other detailing bits and bobs. And have made the decals.
Nearly all of my haulers have got the Walschaerts valve gear so I might have to strip some of that away.

having seen how the annie sizes up against the new 2 8 0 they are a really good basis for 120,3 bashes,,,, might have to pick one up,,,,
its funny mike, those standard gauge locos look very similar to the annie but super sized
so the t19 was narrow gauge,,,,, bit embarrassed as i have a t19,,,, so i should know,,,,

but its boxed and hides under the bed

so im off to hide under the bed with it,,,,,,,

Only after the Beaver Creel Railroad got fed up with it.......that would be never then

its a berlyn t19 rgs 20,,, accucraft make the t12

to be honest if you string r5s curves to form a S its bogie shorts against the frame,,,,

not sorted it yet but it may have to be converted to battery power or re wired,,

it is however a great model and it will get looked at one day,,,,

so it hides under the bed,,,,, lurking,,,
