I think there used to be someone stateside that did replacement gears, this has been mentioned many times before in the forum.

Have you tried Bachmann ? They still sell parts for most, if not all of their trains.

On their parts site you can still get replacement chassis for the earlier models with plastic rods/ valve gear. They seem to have run out of the later ones with metal moving parts!
I’ve had quite a few from them for building UK model locos
