Auto Powering Down Navigator

Just started using my Massoth Navigator again after the winter break. I have had it for about 8 years and it has been faultless. However, today when I use it to run a locomotive, it powers down on its own from full speed to about half speed in a minute or so. Any ideas?

Confused. What powers down, does it switch off? Or is it the loco that changes speed, in which case it could be the loco at fault.

F8 is often used to put the train in shunting mode - about half speed. Any help?
 
I to am confused..

1. If you do not use the Navigator for a while, they shutdown (turn themselves off).
2. If you are using the Navigator, and it shuts-down whilst you are using it, then the batteries are low. - Usually the display gets faint, and flickers, if this id the case.
3. If the loco slows down after a minute or so, it could be the loco needs a clean and light lubrication?? - either something is binding, or the decoder is getting hot, and limiting current.

Just a few ideas..
 
New one on me - I would try new batteries first.

What base station are you using?
 
So, Massoth CS and Navigator, and (presumably) a massoth decoder?

Are you *sure* no one has accidently pressed F8?
 
Its doing it again!!! The navigator runs slowly down from step 14 to step 8 over about 1 minute for any loco selected even with no loco on the track and F8 makes no difference. Any further ideas?

Low batteries tend to cause the display to be 'weak', and the Nav. to turn off.. Not the loco speed to 'automagically' decrease..

Just a thought.. It IS only you running? You are not at a club, and have a 'joker' with another Nav. nearby?

I have copied this in an email to Peter Ting (at Massoth).. He does not think it a Navigator fault.

To be 100% sure of what we are talking about..

A loco is running at (say) speed step 14, and without you doing anything, the Navigator display will reduce the speed step setting to (say) 7 over a period of time, the loco slowing as would be expected from the display. - Is this correct?

Sorry, just want to make sure we are all on the same page..

Yes Phil that is correct but there does not need to be a loco on the track. It happens when there is just a loco set up the Navigator.
 
Hello again.
Finally got round to running trains again this weekend using my Navigator which had been "fixed" at some cost by Masooth. It still has the same problem and it has got worse in that I am losing control of running trains and can only get control back by switching the Navigator off and on again. Any ideas?
 
Is it powering down after a period of inactivity? If so you can change the period in the RC Config settings ( M3 -> M1 -.M1 -> M1 -> M1 -> M2 -> M1 -> M1 -> M2)
