The snag is coupling swing can tend to derail certain items of rolling stock on less than R3.
I think we have to accept that a lot of US outline 'G scale' items not manufatured by LGB requires larger radius curves.
We managed to get one around my track which has a short section of R2. Unfortunately it went home with a scratch on its fuel tank where it hit the fence due to its overhang.
It'll go a little tighter than R3 - it has more bogie swing than the class 66 which definitely won't go tighter. But for all practical purposes you should consider R3 as the minimum due to the coupler swing as has been mentioned.
Although not an Aristo diesel....Imagine my disappointment many years ago whenn the Bachmann Consolidation was first released,, I t would not take my R1 points!! Cost me quite a bit of cash to rebuild the line with R3s......
