Anyone actually tried this....?

If it's as good as they say, I can see a future for it... it would need to be applied carefully to avoid bridging, but no more burnt fingers, tables, carpets...

I seem to remember trying something similar around 25-30 years ago at work, but I didn't think it was any good. Didn't conduct very well at all.

The stuff today may be better though?

Personally, I'm fairly experienced at soldering pcbs and other fiddly things like headsets, guitar pick-ups, etc.
Then again, it's my job!

As for joining track, I'd use rail clamps or fishplate joiners....

I certainly don't see it as a replacement for soldering, but rather as an extra option for specific uses - that is, of course, assuming it works as advertised! ;)

Interesting, Mike (though both your links seemed to take me to the same 35min+ video?) - but did you read the comments, one of which said that the product actually being tested was a cheap Chinese copy of an American-made product? I'd be interested to know if anyone has tried the "proper" stuff rather than the clone.

Thanks Mike, the short video was quite informative (despite the narrator sounding like he was going to fall asleep any moment...) - pretty much bears out what I'd guessed about these products - that they do work after a fashion, and in a situation where soldering is impossible then they may do the job, but shouldn't (yet, at least) be considered a replacement for a good old hot iron and blobs of molten metal! ;)

Hi all,you cannot beat burnt fingers - it makes you remember not to do it next time /// I should know / but still do it -- all for the love of g scale -- :rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf:

Bought some, tried it, just binned nearly full jar. Carbon powder in some sort of compound which just dries and doesn't stick. I'm cr*p at soldering but this wans't the answer.

Thanks Phil, looks like I'll steer clear of it until there is a significant advance in the technology!

was it only for copper as the name suggests or could it be used for non-copper wire or solder pads.

Interesting collection of reviews of 'Just for Copper' here especially from the guy named D Brown
