It is fractionally taller. If you are going to use it try to keep the AML together to reduce the number of rail ends you need to chamfer. Fail to do that and it will wear out skates at an alarming rate.
The sleepers have squarer edges than LGB and different spacing.
It also stays brighter than LGB and Aristo. Otherwise it is good track and used to be at a v good price esp' from Track Shack.
Have you looked at Piko? It seems a closer match to LGB in profile and the price is OK. I use Piko R5 points in preference to LGB.

For the money I'm quite impressed with the couple of boxes of AML I've used over the past year, and will definitely use it again when the need arises. Joins nicely to LGB, you may need to ease the AML fishplates open a fraction to slide onto LGB rail, and going the other way LGB fishplates need a gentle squeese before sliding onto AML rail to ensure a tight fit.

Not noticed a height difference with this recent stuff, unlike a box of track that some friends bought a couple of years ago that did indeed seem to have a slightly taller rail profile. Rather than chamfer/file that stuff, we found a tap or two with a hammer was enough to equalise the height.

As has been mentioned, the sleepers are slightly squarer looking (much the same way as Piko sleepers look squared off compared to LGB), and the brass seems to tarnish more slowly than LGB rail.

Bought mine from Track Shack, with excellent service.

thanks for the info people. not too bothered about square sleepers, as il be ballasting the track lol, cant stand un-ballasted track, no offence to anyone. thanks.

Just dashed out and taken these for you.

AML on the left, LGB on the right. Please excuse the clod of graphite grease on the fishplates, need to wipe them down a little but at least it keeps the moisture out! Must also shift a couple of the AML sleepers to even out the spacing.

No fettling of the AML rail required; as you can see, no rail profile problems!

er... sorry about that, but my track's built on wooden framework to even out the dodgy ground. There is ballast but it's 3 inches below the track
