I have had a quick look a round the many kits available and could not find something that grabbed me so i think i may give it a go and build my own.

Had a quick word with my dad and he gave me some pointers on how to go about building a station but now i need some pictures, ideas or inspiration on what sort of building would suit my railway.

I would like it to be two storey and with a wooden look.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Jason.

Jason-

Knock your self out for starters with this:

http://www.west2k.com/ohio.htm

Also keep in mind that US model magazines such as NG&SLG, Model Railroader, and Craftsman may have useable plans:

http://index.mrmag.com/

I have access to the majority (a few odd missing ones) of Model Railroader issues back to 1959 if you find something that may be of interest......

Jason,

Paul has a good point, find an area and stick with that. Lived in Ohio for years, so I know the Ohio and PA, KY and TN depot types well, and there were wood ones there too.

Here is one of the more infamous ones, EBT's Orbisonia:

http://www.dementia.org/~adams/ebt/1995/station.jpg

BTS are doing some in smaller scales for another PA line, the Waynesburg and Washington, I may have some drawings fo these:

Good luck!

Nice pic Wod. That would make a great model and not too complicated if you break it down into panels.

What a great link Graham.... Just finished reading 'Stealing the General' and have been trying to find more images of the Western & Atlantic RR at that time.... especially around Big Shanty as I am trying to incorporate scenes into my layout. Your link gives me plenty to think about!
Thanks

Thanks guys some great links to check out.

I have now decided to go with a single storey building made of wood, this will help with overal size and ease of construction.

Try googling http://www.gardentexture.com/ < Link To www.GARDENTEXTURE.COM he has plans and kits.

That's a useful link too, Thanks Jason, I bent two sections of 25mm/1" box steel yesterday, to approximately the right suspension arch shape - can use the link to inspire the steelwork to complete it!

Hi Jason, Hope you're well.

I've just searched through my Canadian photos for a couple of ideas. Duncan Station is 2 storey and I've attached the street sign as it gives a nice view. Also I've attached a photo of the Station at the Logging Museum also in Duncan BC. Hope this helps

Andy nice to hear from you mate.

Thanks for the pics.

The pic of the HO model is becoming more and more appealling as i like the canopy design and i think i will have to see if things can fit in the space available, will post with sizes later.

Jason have a look at these. I have several and they lend their selves to all sorts of Cut and shut.
Marty Cozad has made a huge Depot from their kits , you can see that over on MyLargescale (Am I allowed to say that?) Colorado Model Structures are inexpensive too. http://www.coloradomodel.com/ Rod
