Aldi's Digital Caliper

Hi, If you are like me with a somewhat old dial type sliding caliper, Aldi have a digital one in their 'specials' range.

First I have nothing to do with Aldi other than a satisfied customer.

The caliper is mostly metal, weighing 4 oz., and has an 'auto-off' sysytem. It comes with a spare battery as well as the one fitted; there is a plastic box to keep the caliper in, and it is just under £8.00, and has a 3 year guarantee, so remember to keep the receipt please.

Yours Peter.

And I just recently bought a new Mitutoyo one at nearly 10X that price. :wasntme::wasntme:

Well done Peter.... I know what establishment I will be visiting tomorrow.......

I found it is necessary to remove the battery before putting it back in it's case. The foam lining seems to keep the 'on' switch depressed so that the battery is drained when you come to use it again.

Had one of these for years. Cutting a hole in the case lining above the "on' switch is advisable as is obtaining a decent card of batteries from the nearest pound shop.

What size battery do they take....LR44?

Yeah my Maplin one seems to suck batteries while sitting in its case. Reminds me I must get some more!

Had one for years, It is excellent but the battery drain problem mentioned above applies to mine too. Usually, I remember to remove it before placing back in the case but having been caught out I also keep a replacement set of cells from Poundworld. The only other slight aggravation is that the plastic case has warped - a minor issue.
