A very special train...

A special was run today on account of the new workshop project. It included the RR Boxcar/Van and a newly imported railbus trailer car full of VIPs as well as two coaches of enthusiasts. The honour of propelling the VIPs through the new portal for the very first time was given to the ancient founding, but recently numbered battery U Class. This loco was pootling about when I was yet to be born and our estate was still a field!

The garage door has been disposed of and a heavy stud wall built with a new door. There is a shiplap outer and 19mm ply inner skin. Each through portal now has a sliding door of heavy exterior ply making the work shop habitable in winter and also much more secure. A new bench and shelves have been built down one whole length of the workshop giving more project space. Next project is to put in some storage sidings under the bench with the through main lines.

The photos have shown me a jet wash may be in order before the 16th!
Surprisingly having the trains disappear off stage and appear from the "tunnel" adds a bit of unintended interest.
PS for those of you yet to visit we have built over the drive leaving only a narrow path so there will never be a chance to park a car in the garage again - the garage looked marooned and I was hoping making it into a workshop would tidy it up a bit.

Nice one Ian!

All your own work?

Or did you get someone in to make the stud wall....

Nice one Ian.
Far better use for your garage than trying to get a really thin car into it!

well done that man!!

thats a coincidence. I reckon unless you work on very large projects or park a car in it a garage door is a pain!

Hi Dan yes I have joined the UK part of an American business and have my induction course this week in Washington DC. However chances of doing anything non work related are sadly very slim!

That looks great - I'd love the ability to keep trains assembled :)

For the really lazy like me its ideal to have the garage used for train storage, just get a loco from the house flick a switch and away you go, I keep saying the winter project each year is to add scenery to the garage part of the railway but spring always arrives with no notable progress, maybe next winter

What a shame. We are three hours from Washington. It would tie up an entire day. Hopefully the next time you are needed in DC will be less hectic.
