tramcar trev
all manner of mechanical apparatus...
I woke in the middle of the night with this very quick solution to a steam tram trailer.
Take a Bachmann open tram and with a razor saw cut off the ends.... If you look closely you will see there are lines in the mouldings to assist.... remove the trolley pole and the roof walk way and steps and fill in the holes where these are glued, round off the ends of the running boards for aesthetics .... delete the motor, gears, power pickups etc. and keep them for something else.... Destination signs on the side are good ( especially this one - to shoot thru like a Bondi tram is a saying created in the steam tram era)... rewire the lighting so that the wire runs to a small plug that can be plugged into the towing engine for lighting power... For couplers I will use a very typical socket and tongue arrangement, one side will be a length of rectanguler brass tube ( the K&S stuff) the other will have the size larger so that one can slide into the other and a pin dropped through a hole. when mounting they will be mounted using a large hole with washers so that there is plenty of movement in both x & y planes...
Apart from painting I reckon there is not a days work in it.... the quest is now on for a dead toastrack tram....
Have a look at my crude artists impression done by cropping a photo....
