A couple of days ago I decided to steam my John Shawe "Ace" which gets very little work these days (no Chuffer!).
I shot two videos - one of the steaming up process and one in steam. It all looks very sedate and relaxed out on the track - but I can assure you it wasn't - everything that could go wrong, did. And I still haven't found the pump handle which disappeared at a very embarassing moment!
Anyway, you can see both videos here:

There is also a link to the Garden Rail article on this loco by kind permission of Atlantic Publishers. You can also see the videos on my usual Summerlandsteam Youtube channel.
Cheers
Chris

Thanks Tac for those kind words - and that is a great story about the station master!
The guys up at Woody Bay are doing a superb job and are hoping to build a new Lyn. Also the new "Manning Wardle" Lyd is due to visit this Spring which should be quite something. You probably know, but you can check them out on http://www.lynton-rail.co.uk/ Cheers Chris

Great videos, Chris.

It makes me want to fire up my John Shawe Roundhouse Jack.

Except that it is 14 degrees F outside.

The wife is out. Maybe I should fire it up in the basement.

Perhaps not. I'd like to live to see the next Diamondhead.

Many thanks - and a wise decision I think! Your Jack looks great - and everything is nice and easy to get at - especially on a raised track. Ace had a fixed cab roof when I got him - access was a total pain until I made it removable and ditched the single channel R/C.
Cheers
Chris
