My latest scratchbuild project, 80thou plastic sheet sides, "Evergreen" plastic section for roof and side ribs. Trucks, brakegear, footsteps and handbrake wheel came from a 'withdrawn' Aristocraft gondola car. Side and end footsteps from brass wire; etched roof walks came from Pete (MR SPOCK) and the roof hatches were cast in resin from a master I made myself. Lettering was produced on an Ink Jet printer using "Crafty Computer Paper".

A nice easy SP 52'6" Gondola is next on the list . . .

Very nice work

No Pete I'm using the drop down Aristo ones from the gon that donated parts to the Grain Car, as they are just right for the project. Any joy with the trucks you were looking at?

Thanks for all the encouragement guys!

[align=center]Just waiting for a reply about the trucks, I got on loan an Ho gondola that is my planned model proto,

and going to make a file of measurements of it, may just make it flat ended but was after the fold down for one of these

Those are impressive loads Pete! That LV gon looks similar to the SP one I'm making. I have seen recent (1980s on) pictures of drop end gons with the end completely removed and replaced with a fixed one of plain sheet steel which is a nice way round making complex detailed end doors! Ironically that was my original plan till I realised I could use the Aristo ones, though they are permanently glued to the sides to give it some strength.

Yes its handy being able to scale up HO stock, thats what I did for the grain car but modified the ladders following a photo of my prototype.
