Work yard

Demiel1910

Tramway Demiel 1910 en France
I have this clean area next to the station that I want to make into a work yard. I will put my engine shed, water tower, crane and rusting metal on it. i would like it to appear as a sort of 'cinder.ash surface ie quite dark and textured. I thought of a glue wash and then sprinkling real woodash and then spraying but a bit worried that it would wash away too quickly; any suggestions? Many thanks in anticipation ( bear in mind that it is a french metre gauge line set in 1910)

An interesting idea using cinder ash. I live only a few hundred yards from the route of the old Whitby to Scarborough railway which used cinder for ballasting. Most of the route is now a cycle track and walking track called The Cinder Track.

Glue it down with External PVA 50/50 with Water and a drop of washing up liquid. A good damp prior to that with a Household Spray with a little more washing up liquid will assist the process. Remember once it has dried you can always repeat the process TIL, you get to where you would like to be. Also,a little moss glued in can have a nice bit of interest. Oh also do on a warm day otherwise the glue will not dry properly.

You could also try silicon, it worked for me
