Work extra and night shots

Mik

Steam tractors, good books, scratchbuilding models
I decided late this afternoon that it was finally cool enough to sit outside and watch trains. Between heavy rains a few weeks ago, the midget mafia and a few cats, my ballast is half gone in places, and the track is no longer level, soooooo, the obvious (only?) choice for motive power was 'old reliable' #6.

Just for something different, I got out the flat with the TD-24, and the RPO, and decided it was a work extra...

Wait a minute something isn't right here......

The rpo came uncoupled while I was inside getting a beer. #6 would shove the rpo right along on the upgrades and level, then the car would run away on the downgrades. After a couple laps like that I stopped laughing long enough to fix it. Now I know you CAN shunt with a snowplow... go figure.

I found out my camera had a night mode the other day (see what happens when you actually read the manual?), so I just had to play with it.....

Running trains didn't want to cooperate with 5 second exposures. A slow trundle looks something like warp 5...

Thanks for looking!

i like the town night scenes, looking good, just mind the phantom ballast nickers running at night.

Nice shots! Always read the instructions when all else fails:rolf:

Lovely shots Mik.

Disappointed that you resorted to reading the camera manual: have you no sense of the traditions associated with male endeavour? (utter confidence expressed; hours of worthless activity; disillusion and castigation of the equipment's parentage; satisfactory results from first attempt by a small child)

Great shots, Mik, particularly the twilight ones. Good to see the ex-RPO earning its keep.
