Wireless Rcvr EU and WiFi Network Issue

OK, here goes.......

I have recently been issued with a Virgin Media Superhub 2ac because Virgin have upgraded my BroadBand service (BB)
Now here is the thing; every time I turn on my 1200Z with the Wireless rcvr attached it kills the BB within about a minute ???
A tethered Navigator causes no problem.
I have moved the rcvr as far away from the Superhub as the cable will allow, and also tried both ends of the wireless spectrum available to the rcvr to no avail.
It doesn't appear to be killing the WiFi side of things, just the BB link to Virgin.
Moving the Superhub is not an option as the coaxial feed cable will not allow, unless I completely re-route the external cable to, say the first floor of the house, but that will cause me problems with my wired devices.

Has anyone else experienced such an issue with their cable modem/router?
If so, is there a resolution which may suit me?
Any constructive thoughts would be welcome.

TIA
Martin

Try replacing the micro-filter between your telephone line and router.. OR, are we talking 'cable' into the house for everything?

Hi PhiliP,
Thanks for your reply.
No ADSL here, just straight "cable" to router/modem I'm afraid. :(

sounds to me as if the coax cable is collecting the 433Mhz signal from the receiver and blocking the signal from Virgin.

What do Virgin say? Surely their equipment should not be susceptible to a RC device operating on a frequency legal in the UK?

Hi again Mark,
Not contacted Virgin so far, still experimenting; but you are right, their kit should not be affected by UK legal frequences.
I guess it's a case of "Watch this space"

a lot of wireless alarms are 433mhz too the yale one i have is that frequency

Daveyb,
Are you using cable BB?
If you are, have you had similar issues?
One thing I didn't mention earlier is that I did not have this problem with my previous Virgin BB equipment. That consisted of the cable modem, a separate router, and a further separate WiFi access point

We use X10 technology (it allows up to 256 individual lights or appliances to be controlled through the mains by rf switches or computer). The RF from the wall switches to the mains receiver is 'killed' by my Massoth gear. Do you have any of this type of house control that powers any of the internet kit?

Your router and wifi should be on 2.4GHX or 5ghz so it should not be affected unless maybe the wireless access point is very very close to the Msssoth gear.

It could be the coax cable picking up the 433mhz signal but even so, the error resolving algorithms in the router etc should at least give you some internet access.

Maybe the Massoth 1200Z/Navigator/receiver is giving off some spurious 2.4ghz, or near that, signal that is causing the problem

i am using the old bt network and a bt home hub

no probs for me,, and alarm has no effect

Do Virgin provide you with other services via this cable - TV, Phone? If so are they affected too or is it only Broadband?

To all,
Thank you for all of your reponses.
I have now renewed the co-axial cable twixt wall outlet and Superhub, and guess what!
All is now fine :D
As proof; I type this to the forum whilst the locos trundle around!

So you were correct (as usual) Mark in that the cable was picking up the signals from the wireless part of the 1200Z.
Thanks again guys.

Something does not quite make sense... can you turn the wireless off on the superhub thingy? It does not make sense that your 2.4 ghz signal is causing problems with the cable modem... I assume the cable modem is docsis 3.0 ?

of course you will have to check your internet access with a hardwired connection.
