Can you see the LED on the receiver?

If it flashes in groups of five, then Low Voltage Cut-off is thinking you have a lithium battery that is nearly flat..
Switching off/on, or going to zero on the transmitter, will rearm the receiver to run again.

Turn off LVC on the receiver, but only if using NiMH batteries.

what batteries to use do you recommend
7.2V is fine, if that gives you the speed you require..

Google Deltang paperclip settings, or see the documentation that came with your receiver, for how to turn LVC off.

I agree with Phil's diagnosis. Always a good idea to disable LVC if you are using NiMh cells.
Quick and easy to do with paperclip settings

LVC

1. Connect P3 and P4 together.
2. Switch the receiver on.
3. Remove the connection.

The led on the receiver will come on solid and flicker:
* once a second if 'low voltage cutoff' is disabled (eg: for 9v PP3, Nicads, NiMHs, LiFe cells).
* twice in 1.5s if 'low voltage cutoff' is enabled (recommended for Lipo cells).

I can not see the port numbers
If you look closely at your second photo, you can see the numbers etched beside each pad. Alternatively, it's a bit clearer on this image from the Deltang website

A B C 1 2 3 4 5 L along the base and 6 7 8 up the side

Sorry , I not the best at sorting things out , but you need electrical engineering degree to work this out. I contact port 2 and 3 to turn off LVC , Think it work but as soon as I run the loco it cut out , I am using a 3300 mAh 7 cell = 8.4V, what do I need to do to get it running as it used to, PLEASE HELP

IF you connected ports 2 & 3, then you will have changed from centre-off to low-off throttle. - I doubt you have done this.

You need to connect pins 3 & 4.
Then switch the receiver on..
You should see one flash per second.

If not, turn off and back on again.

When you get one flash per second, turn the receiver off. Remove the link.

You have now turned LVC off, so if you still have a problem, it is something else.

I know I'm not the brightest of sparks but this is very complicated for me , I have uses a Spektrum TX and RX with a ESC in 2 other loco's and they work just fine Lipo and NiMH, mysound card and smoke unit , I got the Deltang as told it the best, yes you if you know how the think works, Sorry bur I get so confused and mad with it all, I just want to run trains around my garden, you are a good man PhilP, Thanks

If you send the receiver to me or to Phil, we'll happily turn off the LVC function for you. I'd pop round and do it, but Norfolk is a bit of a trek from Cheshire .....;)

The alternative is to swap over a lipo pack from one of your other locos.

If you buy another Deltang/Micron Rx, you can ask for it to be supplied with LVC disabled
