There's brass, in this case quite a bit of it and drop-dead gorgeous. :admire:

there are more detailed pix on the Kiss website, and the model is astounding. Sadly it is waaaaay out of my pocket money, but we can all dream & drool :crying:

http://www.kiss-modellbahnen.de/harzbr995906.html If anyone buys it can I have a go?

That is a handsome loco!

.....And 300 Euros less than Kiss' new price!

Can someone confirm - is this exactly the same prototype that the forthcoming Trainline45 model depicts?

Jon.

You may live a few miles away Jon BUT I am sure that I can hear the wallets moths beating their wings!!!
Go on you know you want it!

Pretty sure it is what Trainline are bringing out at a third the price (not brass though).

But ... that's more expensive than when sold new by Kiss.... Perhaps I should have bought a dozen or two as an investment!

BTW not the same as the TL45 model - that will be of the first batch of Harz Mallets; the Kiss model is of the second batch.

And almost certainly not as detailed, Kiss models do have exquisite detailing.

Your dead right Graham - just realised and came back to amend this thread but you have already corrected me. Thanks.

Does anyone have a link to the Trainline model with a pic? I could only find a thumbnail on their website.

Not the KISS one, Mike - though I DO plan to get the TL45 one!

Jon.

The Grootspoor website has a bigger picture (tho' close inspection suggests that it might just be a pic of the real thing - note the cabsheet) and quotes a price for both digital and analogue - at EUR 900 for the analogue, I'm very tempted even if it blows next year's budget.*

* But then the washing machine, the toaster and the lawnmower all gave up the ghost this week at the same time as we are supposed to be taking delivery of a new limo and I had the builder's estimate for repairing the chimney stacks.

I'm impressed, if the production model is the same as the handbuilt one shown it will be real value for money.
It's here:
http://gscalenews.com/news/train-line about 2/3 of the way down.

Subtly different prototypes..

99 5906 (the brass Kiss model in the ebay auction) is an all inside frame mallet, whereas 99 5901-4 (Live steamer from reppingen and the coming trainline model) are all mixed frame mallets (front unit inside framed, rear outside framed) of a similar sized but different class...

All in the nice to have category though.

Kiss have done both types of Harz Mallet. The original Kiss Harz Mallet, which was released about 5 years ago, IS the same as the one that TL45 are bringing out.
