West Mids G Scale Society Exhibition - 13th Feb

Some pics from yesterday's West Mids GSS exhibition at Solihull.

First some views of the action on our (still to be completed) group portable layout.
My goods stock awaits unloading at the goods shed.

Plenty of action as Swiss train speeds past American goods. The Swiss electric unit is scratch-built by John Bint.

John Bint also scratch built this ex Irish / Isle Of Man railcar for Alan's layout. Fabulous isn't it?

Alan's Caledonia pulls into the station hauling two of the new Accucraft pairs.

The brake coach. These pairs a very impressive. Very long, but still able to traverse the R1 points in the fiddle yard.

I liked this cab conversion that Maurice has done to an ancient LGB Stainz "growler". If you did this to a more up-to-date Stainz you would find that all the lines that need to be cut are marked by rivet strips. A fairly easy way of getting something a little "different" IMO.

Also from Maurice's stable is this train of "vintage" (yellow box) LGB stock.

Finally, I managed to pick up this second hand, but unused LGB box van. This will be re-painted to become a tool van to go with my Matra crane.

I'd love to be able to do a G Scale exhibition for East Anglia, but the logistics/storage/transport seem to be unsurmountable at the moment....

Something I'm considering Mel. There is now a new committee in charge at the club, whom I expect will be re-elected in April. The new 'management' are definitely an improvement on the old.

We also have a new extra clubroom, with a storage area next door, but our GSS group is scattered about in the four corners of Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambs, and the main men like Bigjack and myself work away from home or are on shifts. As it stands at the moment, I only go there every other week.

TAC if you are willing to travel to Woolpit in Suffolk on a Thursday night, then I'll certainly count you in....

Uh oh, my Dremel just twitched and the two Stainz seem to be quivering - and not from the cold!
