For a long time I have wanted to build one of these . Everyone seams to concentrate on the American 2-6-2 Roundhouse etc and the American 4-6-0 by Accucraft . So I decided I would have a go at building the British version for something different . For starters I don,t do steam but electric and using LGB MTS so ti chassis . I first thought of a Piko 0-6-0 chassis but the wheelbase was to long then and LGB chassis again to long . Then I had a brainstorm could I obtain an old Lionel G scale trainset 0-6-0 loco . After a cast around about I found a virtually new one from the states on a well known auction site at a good price .A month later it arrived . And when I offered it up to the drawings I had perfection spot on wheel base.! Next problem was valve gear no luck so I had some spare LGB valve gear although not at all accurate I am afraid it will have to do so photos next hope fully self explanatory ! Looking great. Hope to see more pictures as you progress please.

After much thought as what colour to paint it and careful consideration I decided to paint in something a bit more bright than the traditional black or khaki these locos were outshopped in so having read the review on the new roundhouse sugar plantation loco I thought that was the colour "Stroudleys Improved loco green" or yellow to the rest of us so here its after wheeling out of the Nant -Y- Felin works this morning at approx. 8:00 this morning as yet no Brake pipes name or number or railway crests hope you like DSCF5439.JPG DSCF5442.JPG DSCF5455.JPG

I am sure that numbers, name and/or crests will alter it considerably and break up the (relatively) large expanse of colour on the tanks. Does look OK though. Like it!

Neat.

You turn your back for a week and....

And, I just happen to have a Lionel 0-6-0T in stock that's never really had a proper plan for its future. Until now. I've got a set of Hunslet plans somewhere, out of interest what scale is the loco? I'm guessing 16mm, making the track a nominal 2'9".

Plans came from an old Model railways magazine 1975 three episodes and yes to 16mm scale
