Wayne's World as viewed by the Wellington Group

Hi Jon - yes sorry, it is an LGB set, the other sets are Preiser, but I got me notes mixed up!

So, it looks like Mr and Master Elgeebee have taken up with Ms Preiser after Mrs Elgebee ran off with her father-in-law, Mr Elgebee Snr! :giggle: It all happens on garden railways! :smirk:;)

The other thing to bear in mind is that almost every wagon on display there is scratch built by Wayne. He has built several Austrian ones for me ( of the more classic Austrian vintage variety) and has exported them as far as The Netherlands. He has two styles and generally runs the separately 750mm lines and 1000mm Harz lines. One of his prize winning wagons was the 4 axle wagon that has been preserved on the DEV. It has been built with articulated axles to run around LGB Nr 2 curves. From memory he has three untouched genuine LGB wagons- all the rest are scratch built. Excellent modeller.

Yes, I'd noticed that very few of the rolling stock items on the layout looked to be standard LGB.... as you say, excellent modelling!
Does he have a website of his own where we can see more of his work?

Jon.

You want to hear some of the 'know alls' at exhibitions.....

'I didn't know LGB did it in that colour'

'I got 2 of those'

'That ain't scratchbuilt!'

Hahaha, yes, I can well believe that..... it is really a testament to how well the scratchbulit models have captured the "look and feel" of standard LGB models, in terms of style, construction and above all, paint finish! That is one of the things that really appeals to me about them, seeing them in the photos in this thread, the fact that they look like the COULD have come straight off the LGB production line, and therefore they don't stand out like the proverbial sore thumb when mixed with actual LGB wagons...... would love to see more of them if anyone has a link?

I see what I can do about some more photos next time I visit Wayne. While Wayne does sometimes log into GSC (when Henrik helps him! ) Wayne will be the first to admit he's not a great one for the internet. Hmm maybe that's one reason he does more modeling than us!
And yes capturing the "look and feel" of LGB so his models are in context with LGB stock is intentional as I understand it. Wayne does use a number of LGB parts though perhaps less since the problems times (I'd rather not say the demise if you get my drift.) In those days I think Wayne must have been one of LGB's biggest parts customer!
