Wayne's Indoor DR Empire - WGRG Visit 11th Sept 11

Wet weather caused the Wellington Garden Railway Group's planned running day to be transferred to a large indoor G gauge railway owned by member Wayne H. Pretty good place to end up on a wet sunday

The Railway starts at a low level terminal station, where the main loco depot is.

Wayne scratch build's most of his rolling stock, much true to prototype plans, some a little bit freelance. Some here lined up under the track linking the various levels of the railway and the central loop around the 7mx7m room.

Some action at the central junction station.

Note the superelevation as the track curves around on the central level.

And up at the top terminal station.

If you've got a bit of time to spare I've put up and extended video (some 14 minutes) on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTUP..., we look forward to the next visit.

What a fantastic layout and you really get to see the size in the video.
Oh to have such space to play with.... even half as much would be enough.

Thanks for sharing.

This looks to be a very interesting layout for real type of operations such as wagon movements etc. I notice that some of the wagons have what looks to be removable loads so that will make the wagon movements believable. I had a bit of a job working out the flow plan of the line but I think that I nailedn it with the vid and stills. Would it be possible to post a simplified plan of the railway showing just the main lines with their routing please?

Great stuff, but a bit sterile without sound, I known that can be a very personal thing particularly with an indoor layout. I think if I in the future had an extended indoor section I would love to replicate the sort of thing that Wayne has done, but with reduced level of sound on all my locs. Many thanks for the posting from a fellow DR layout owner.
