In my imagination: The Consolidation that has been rusting with dignity in the scrap siding for 25 years has finally been moved to the workshops by the CRHS (Cogges Railway Historical Society) who consider most of the 1950s era stock run regularly by the CR as modern. The CRHS has held various fund raising efforts and received a donation from the Government of Ruritainia and now has £36.17p which has convinced the CR to provide covered space for a full assessment, as well as providing dispensation to run on the now shut-for-winter railway. Over the weekend the Connie was lubricated (sort of) and the tender moved onto a flat car via logs and jacks. You see a video of the journey to the workshops, captured by a hardey and well informed linesider....
In reality: The connies gears stripped years ago and since that day it has been a static piece of scenery. I am currently, with my father, in the process of building a garratt and the Connie is to be a doner. I thought it would be more fun to recover it by rail. The tender had nice wheelsets so I had reused them before i abandoned it - I used anything 45mm on one end to locate it on the rail, and nothing the other to give it a "collapsed" look. So it had to go on a flat. Although squeaky I am impressed she rolls OK (see how bad the gears are!) and despite years of sun, rain and- one year- weeks buried in snow- it is still electrically functional today... so the reality isn't so far from my day dreaming!
Enjoy.
