I’ve recently become the owner of a well used USA trains GP38-2.

In the postal system one of the truck side frames has fractured, has anyone come across this? And any suggestions for repair method

The loco will be converted to battery once repaired.

My currents thoughts are superglue the break and then add a repair plate to the inside of the truck.

I think you will find these are mainly cosmetic. As long as the frame supporting the motor-block is intact you should be fine.

Drill and pin the two parts together or alternatively buy a replacement pair for $15.98 from the USA Trains website.

Repair plate sounds good, drilled and pinned pretty much as Doddy suggested, though I would be tempted to go for small nut n bolt with the head sunk into the front and nut to the rear. When painted black should become near invisible.
