Um, I'm still not sure how this works

Two items excactly the same from the same seller. One is BIN, one is Auction... so thinking I have nothing to loose and I put in a bid and set up my maximum bid to the BIN price.... I'm out bid by $30 more than the BIN????? I suspect skulldugery or fools....

I don't use Ebay very often but it looks more and more like it is set up to get as much money out of the buyer. Does it work on a percentage commision for ebay?

Fools is one word egotistial suckers is another (let me explain) people wont buy it now cause they think they are being ripped off by a dealer and can get a bargin elsewhere by bidding but once hooked up in the auction dont want to loose it of a few quid...If i have lots of the same item i will sometimes do a multible buy it now (eg 20 sets of R1 points for £22 each) i think i sold 5 i did one advert starting at 99p auction and it sold for £27............ and its not a one off it happens 9 times out of 10.... My Rugans bin £375 didnt sell auctioned it 3 weeks later 99p start same ad same photos relisted sold £415

I thought that once a bid was made on a "buy it now" item, the buy it now option disappears... ?

Trevs talking about 2 identical items from the same seller...one buy it now the other on auction and how the auction one more than often makes more than the buyer is asking for on buy it now

Volumne sellers often have most items on buy-it-now but have a few auction items to alert buyers to them. Sellers with an ebay shop have to pay very little to list Buy-it-now items and the listings last for a month hence it is cheaper for them to sell like this. If shops have flat rate postage or reductions for multiple items winners of auctions will often add one or more Buy-it-now items as even if the price is slightly more the postage saving makes them cheaper. I've often done this in the past.
