Hi All,

Apologies if im in the wrong place but does anyone have any ideas on where to get a Turntable from please,

Ive seen that GRS have one but its manual and poss looking for an electric one or one that could be converted to electric with help (im crap with electrics) , also seen the ones from M Heyn and they look good but at a cost .

Poss have a deck of approx 760 - 800 mm for those bigger locos to use,

It would be staying outdoors as well, any ideas are much appreciated, thankyou

Pola do or did do a kit, but not really up to the task. If you want a seriously good workable one I think the Heyn might be a better bet. See below for lots about the Pola one.

Anything powered, will be expensive..
Anything powered, and accurately lined-up repeatable, will be very expensive.

Even if it is for inside use.

If you wanted something robust enough to live outside, then  expensive. :giggle:

Good luck, and do let us know how you get on..

Ive spoken to GRS who have a turntable and they are looking at it being powered as its currently manual so will let you know if it happens, thankyou.

May go down the lines of a manual table and wire the outlets myself and sort out something to power the table tracks ... we will see.

A few years ago I was the proud second owner of a turntable of Austrian manufacture, digitally controlled and aligned by hall sensors, for outside use.. I cannot remember the maker now but I'm pretty sure they are no longer in business. Even 15 years ago the new price was £3.5k., so I can only guess what they would cost now. Apologies for the low quality photo but it's long since been sold on and almost all of my earlier railway pictures were lost in a hard drive failure.

Wasn't there talk of someone who used a step motor for turntable alignment?

Or am I barking?

ADM uses a stepper-motor, I believe..

Cheap and cheerful, uses an ordinary DC motor, and alignment with super-magnets..
I have seen one, and it is repeatable for our gauge and scale, probably for Sm32 16mm as well. Not sure if it would be accurate (repeatable) enough for finer-scale O, or gauge 1?

A handrolic one will work just fine, all you need is a couple of brass bolts to pass the juice to the table track. And I mean real brass, not brassed ones..

Did you see this thread? May give you some ideas.

I is the guilty party in this respect. As many of you know my railway is sadly no more, but I still have most of it's components which I was hanging on to 'just in case'. I like to think I may get the chance to construct some sort of replacement on a much reduced scale if we can sort out whether we can relocate to more suitable surroundings. Consequently my now redundant turntable is possibly available to someone with the ability and inclination to try and put it back in service. Due to it's size and weight it won't be cheap to ship but if offered for sale the price will be realistic.

Don’t Swift Sixteen do a manual turntable? Lineside | Mysite
They do, and although advertised as 16mm / LGB Gauge, I think many of our locos will not fit, especially those with tenders. Very nice but I would like to see it at least 50% wider.

Mike good to hear you are still about, hope you find what you want. I expect you have seen that Mini You has winged his way to Jersey this week. He had a good spell at my place visited lots of railways but was time for him to move on. I reread you missives about foreign travel so perhaps he will be traveling far and wide next.

Definitely the best from Heyn (Drehscheiben) Very helpful company and he will help tailor whichever model to your needs. Many models have the advantage of not requiring a “pit” and can sit on a flat surface.

Not cheap, but available:

Hello Philip,
I looked at the ADM Website to see the Turntable -- and they included a Video of a Fine-Scale o-gauge using their Turntable. My question is, how did they get the Smoke effects? They are quite the most comprehensive I have yet come across. I am exploring Smoke units to fit into R/C Battery LGB which I am running. Any ideas.
