All trams have been wired for live overhead. The Bachmann trams are all re-powered with Buhler motors and brass gears, the open cars also fitted with working bow collectors. The New Orleans car has new working trolley poles (cut down, rebuilt Bachmann poles soldered and fitted with current wipers at the trolley base. Tower wagon (still to be finished) is scratch built in wood, on a LGB salt wagon chassis. Alyn

Most impressive!!!!!!!!
The toastracks look good but if I may be so bold? Take a razor saw to the bumpers and get rid of them and repalce with simple strip ones.....

I also intend to replace the pink "glazing" in the clerestory..... Most of the real trams have red, green and blue stained glass.... I tried some transparent paint but didnt really work so I will ripp out the pink and replace with clear painted perspex or maybe even non reflective glass superglued in place......

Next question is: has anyone replaced the headlight globes with 3mm warm white leds in bachmann trams??? I intend to give it a try as the Leds can be made to turn on brightly at 4 - 5 volts but would need a diode to protect them against the possibilty of a reverse 12 VDC attack.... things to do.....

Yes nice pics of fascinating subject Alyn!

Trev - I used some Overhead Projector film and created my own coloured glass. I used Microsft Word and the drawing element. Rectangle with thickest line coloured brown for wood, centre fill in blue (or whatever you want). Then overlay with smaller rect with "fancy corners" and transparent film and white for line colour. Then draw something in middle also coloured white. "group" everything together the copy as many lights as you want and print off. Laminate for stiffness and durability. I I can find the sheet I'll post it here if Alyn doesn't mind.

Found it!

It would be better if I had a lazer printer - the print has lost its crispness!

The window film is a good idea. Here are some pictures of the scratch built Krauss Kasten Lok and the diesel built on a spare HF 130 chassis (LGB).Still some work to do on it. Alyn

The exhaust from the steam motor dosent ruin the overhead? Looks very nice, you really should immigrate to Australia where we have lots of sunshine and most of us speak english so that we can get together....
Wow yes the clerestory window idea is fantastic. I actally thought of doing it the hard way - I like your solution.... Another little task I want to do is create etched glass panels with the "Lanyon Valley Electric Tramway Trust" crest on them ( as one will encounter on most elderly trams) and I'm thinking pale grey printing on clear waterslide transfers may be the way to go. I may cheat on the design and use the Prahan & Hawthorn Tramways Trust crest and insert my own words......
