Thought Trammayo (and everyone else) might be interested in someone else's take on a large-scale. layout built on a trailer. Guy's name is Jim Davis and he lives near Kemptville, about 50 km south of us.
The layout is a two-track oval running around a central spine/viewblock.

The mirrors along the top of the spine are an interesting touch.

Starting the takedown Sunday evening.

And further along. The panels support the tarp that covers the trailer when travelling.

Edges fold down to reduce the trailer width on the road.
A pickup truck does the towing, as well as carrying the trains, power supplies and the usual bits and bobs.

It's an interesting concept - I like the idea of hinged sides - I used to extend my layout at each end until I got tired of lifting off the scenery and boards. Now, with even less energy, I just get plain tired!

There is a similar concept layout (00) on a smaller trailer based in Northern Ireland. Trouble is, neither the one you have photograhed, or the one I know of, would be suitable for outside display given the weather we enjoy (?).

Thanks for posting - I like it!

Nice idea, thanks for posting Chris. As Mick says it is probably indoor only unless you can guarantee a rain or wind free day, more because of the scenery than the track infrastructure. You'd need a pretty big garage to park that trailer in, assuming it is kept indoors when not in use; I can't imagine Canadian winters would be very kind to such an enterprise!
