The Road i'd like to lay.

I have just been looking on ebay g gauge, there is a Bachmann Tramcar offered, what really struck me is the road it is running on, you cannot see much of the track, there seems to be a groove on the inside of the track for wheel flanges to run in, does anybody have any idea how this is done, I would like to build a roadway like this for my Tram, i would be gratefull for any ideas, Thanks in advance, Pete.

Pete,

My street track is covered with cement mortar and grooves are made manually.
I use the same method for level crossings on the railway.

It's not always the neatest finish, but works for me.

Of course, extra care is needed around pointwork to keep the mechanism clear.

I once had a tramway section on my railway.

I brought some brass L angled strips (5-6 mm) from my local model shop, glued it to the sleepers so that the angled corner was against the chairs, and filled in between the strips with mortar.

Only works for straight track, although I guess you could use brass strip which you could bend and glue to the chairs/sleepers along its edge?

Only problem was that the mortar cracked up during the winter so I removed it all. The track underneath was fine and it is still in use on my railway....

Just buried track in a decent mortar mix to cross a path.
Used a truck with old wheels to run the flangeways.

Or take the easy route not as good as a lot of the above though
