The Northerns 4 of the Northerns fresh out of the shop. A fellow modeler takes 2 Aristo Pacific's and Bashes them into a Northern and keeps the leftover parts for payment. Mine is 3763 and is pulling like a champ. Most cars to date has be 88 with a 3% grade or 11 heavyweight passenger cars with out a struggle. Min. dia curve is 8' not bad. That sounds like a good deal judging by the quality of the Conversion. Wonder what he does with the leftover bits? Atlantics or 4-4-0's perhaps?

JonD, He helps others that need odds and ends for repairs and is always trying to come up with something new. Here is a Lionel Atlantic he took from me and using a Aristo 8 wheel block turned it into a sweet 2-8-0 medium another nice puller. Jack

Indeed, most impressive.
I'm curious as to why he uses Pacifics rather than Mikados or Consolidations as a basis for the Northerns.

The Aristo pacific had larger wheels at a wider spacing than the 8-wheel mikado/consolidation/mallet block - overall they take up almost exactly the same space. More work, but stretching the pacific block probably makes for a more convincing high-stepping Northern. And the bones of an atlantic left over..
