Hi,

On Sunday with wall to wall sunshine I took the camera out and took some photos of some of my stock. Here are some of the results

Both my Mason Bogies together, the Accucraft one is the green version.

D&RG number 99 as Bachmann should have painyed it - this ios the correct colours for it. It was bought seconhand and has a sounsd card in it. Taken on my 'photograohic' trestle.

Looking the other way and the staion building is hidden by the loco!

Lifting the camera up a bit the staion building can now be seen

This loco & coacjh is patterned after F W Webb's coupe on the L&NWR. MyLragescale.com were doing a Masterclass fopr the first loco of the Southern Pacific railroad; that was, and is (its preserved) a 4 2 4 - thats right - a single driver loco; I decided to make it instead a 2 4 4 4(incl. the rear coach bogie). The bits were from Hartland Loco works, and the rest I made, he coach is scratchbuilt and has a full interior and that is the subject of the next photo

Finally in these days of digital camers and quick and easy photos as look back to the very old days - lots of light was needed to take photos so 'Photo Galleries' required huge windows to admit it. here is my photo gallery wit the huge windows on show. Both are clear styryren from CD cases with my normal sindow framing system: the rea has another layer pre painted to look like curtains. Transfers are still needed but at least they are designed! It has been placed by the station to get as much trade as possible!

Even nearer to the station is a Western Union office - for all the sdalesman to telegraph their order 'back east' to the employers.

Enjoy!

looking great, love the engines. nice buildings in fact im quite envious.

Great photo's Peter do like your D&RG train 99 in all it's colours

Fantastic locos and pics - love that station too! What's the mimum radius for the likes of No.99? I guess the Mason bogies will require an even greater radii.

Excellent pictures, #99 is a treat for the eye, and this coming from someone who does not generally care much for early US steam !

Hi Mick,

Re radii - thats an interesting point - here are some wheelbase figures for some of my locos.

Bachmann 4 4 0 110mm
Bachmann 2 6 0 180mm
Accucraft 2 8 0 170mm
Mason Bogie 2 6 6 95mm
Mason Bogie 286 145mm

ALL except for the 4 4 0 have the centre driving wheels blind; (the 280 & 286 therefore have 2 blind sets of wheels), that is there is no flange, so they can laterally slide on curves: the Bachmann mogul has a small plastic & steel moulding between the wheels on the blind centre axle which needs removing - its quite easy as it is has a couple of screwes that are on the base of the chassis.

My minimum radius is 4 to 4.5 feet - I say that as I use Peco Flexitrack and the sharpest curve has a transistion curve at each end - done by eye!

The Mason Bogies are no trouble they go down to 4 foot which is said to be the same for the Bachmann pair as well.

Full size locos were slightly different they had half flanges on the centre wheels of some, but thats a new set of wheels for the manufacturers! Much easier to have flanged or blind.

Re the Accucraft 2 8 0 that is quite OK, and my (building) 2 8 6 has a much shorter wheelbase than that.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone; hope the above helps Mick.
