One of my Stainz has sound. It is the first version, not as good as the second I understand.
Can i update the sound file to the second version using my LGB programming interface running with the Massouth software?
If so where do i find the version 2 sound file?

If its the sound unit in the cab roof Mike the answer is no.
You will need to change the unit in the cab roof.

Only digital sound cards on any loco can be re- progammed with specialist software.

I thought that might be the case, but is there a sound card small enough to fit in the Stainz roof?

You can tuck a little Massoth S unit almost anywhere..... I'd think the best place on a Stainz would be in the firebox/backhead and then just run the speaker wires up to the cab roof. The S runs happily on either DCC or Analogue, and requires only a simple 2-wire connection to track power.

A zimo MX645 should fit near the speaker.
