I visited the Spreewald Museum recently. I took the train from Cottbus to Lubbenau and walked from the mainline station to the town a distance of about 1 kilometre. The museum itself is located close to the town centre. It focusses on life in the area of Spreewald in the early 20th Century. Here is a link to the museum website: Spreewald Museum Lübbenau - Öffnungszeiten, Fotos und Preise has 2 main exhibits of railway interest, the preserved loco 995703 and an original coach. Here are some photos:

Thanks Mike. It was well worth visiting. I have been interested in the Spreewald railway for sometime. I would very much like for LGB to model the loco it would go well with the existing LGB model of a Spreewald Loco.

Martin

The detail photos are great, but like many indoor exhibits I guess the problem is trying to get far enough away from them to get the whole thing into one shot.... is it an 0-6-0, I can't really tell?

Hi Jon,

The preserved loco is one of an original class of 7. It is an 060. I will send you more details shortly.

Hi Jon,

I have uploaded some more photos to the media. Turning now to the Spreewald and Loco 995703. I have had an interest in the Spreewaldbahn for a long time. Unfortunately I never saw it in operation. It is a metre gauge line situated to the SW of Berlin. Here is a link to its background: Die Spreewaldbahn

As I mentioned 995703 was one of a class of 7 locos that ran on the railway. Here is a link to a scale drawing which you might find useful: Albert Gieseler -- 99 5701-5707

One of my wishes is that LGB would produce this loco. As you know they already have produced the 2-6-0 Loco which runs on the DEV near Bremen (Deutsche Eisenbahn Verein). LGB has also produced a copy of a snow plough that ran on the Spreewald - LGB 20040

Do let me know if you would like anymore information as I have a number of books on the Spreewald Bahn.

Regards

Martin
