I have a loco that I've just got lights and power to but when its placed on the track you get the
startup/shutdown sound sequence and then no sound at all . When running this cycle you can make the announcement ,whistle etc work but once it stops nothing at all , lift of the track place back on and it does same cycle .
Everything was working perfectly until it ran off the end of a test track onto the carpet .Since then ive had the symptomns described above .Anyone got any ideas please.

Hi - sounds like a decoder plug or similar has been dislodged during the slight mishap - probably not totally un-plugged, but just making enough contact on some of the connections to give your symptoms. open it up and have a look. Just make sure any plug-like objects are fully seated. Good luck!

Hi, Its a LGB Crocodile which came with the sound already fitted to it, using LGB MTS 2 (maybe 3) on digital

thankyou

MTS2 is getting a little dated now. It may be in serial mode. Can you tell us the part number on the red central station box.

HI muns ,
Yeah the picture of the boards you see in that link are the ones im asking about.
The model number is 27402 (Limited Edition Blue Croc)
I've re-checked all the plugs in the boards and they are all sat in firm.

Hi Muns
This is the sticker on the bottom of the board that has the speaker plugged into it .

Its been mentioned to me about that Massoth have brought out a service board to check decoders etc , Has anyone used or heard of this ?
Just wondered if it would be of any use for the problem I've got.

Heard of it, yes.
Considered it for all of half a minute, then decided even with the amount of decoders I fettle, not worth it.
I do not think this would help you at all.

Have you got access to an analogue supply?
Can you run it on DC and report back at all?

In your first post, you say horn etc. work when the loco is moving.. Do they also work when it is stationery (on DCC, of course)?

Sorry I dont have an anologue power supply .
In first post I may have stated the problem wrong , the loco does move with lights but no sounds , when you put the loco on the track first time thats when the sound starts up and does the cycle I explained .
After that there is no sound at all via any of the controller buttons when pressed . If you take loco off track and place it back on again you get the same results as first time.

Hi ,
Tried the F8 button , makes no difference at all. when the Loco is placed on the track first time or taken off the track and then placed back on the sound
goes through the start up/ shutdown sounds . during this time you can press any of the buttons to make the whistle go , the platform announcement etc. you
can even press F8 and the sound stops but when you press F8 it continues on from where it stopped. once this startup/shutdown sound has finished there is
no sound at all . the only thing I've noticed is when you press any number button the lights flicker once .

You say: ..you can press any of the buttons to make the whistle go..
That sounds very much like a serial v parallel problem??

Just looked back through the posts on this question...... do you have another sound-equipped loco to hand, and if so does that work exactly as it should? Might just help to identify if the problem is in the loco or the control system?

Jon.

Hi,

Yes ive 2 others and they both work as they should do, thats why I think its the loco at fault ?

Many thanks steve
