I have a belgian friend who is as mad as a hatter. He has a good size folded dog bone layout with the ability to hold 9 long trains in the marshaling area. Those 9 trains stay outside at all times until a breakdown causes a change of loco. I have not managed to count how many locos he has but it's lots. Here's a couple of pictures.

He has also repaired his locos as he sees necessary to keep them going and pulling his long heavy trains. He is now 85 and so cannot see sufficiently to repair them. They come to me for repair when they stop and the things I find in them is horrifying. The last one I had here was a LGB mallet with a cold chisel in each water tank for extra weight. Imagine my horror when this week when I visited him his latest Idea was a scrap yard with locos that I had repaired and some very rare stuff. See what you can find hidden in this lot.

and then there is this. What do you think this is?

I'll show you the rest of the picture later.
One thing to note. He is as happy as Larry and a really nice guy.

its just great to see someone using what he has and getting pleasure from the hobby at a right good age,,,

With 4 power bogies, it certainly pulls.

I thought it was going to be a double loco!

But a triple? Fantastic!

BTW, has he got a spare horn and a vac pipe for a Wizzy in his scrap yard, because I'm after some for my one....

Neat, a wizzy crank loco without the wizzies.

Hmmm I wouldn't mind going thru his "scrap yard":D:D:D

Hey it's his stuff and as long as he is enjoying himself then good for him! I am amazed he leaves his locos out and gets reasonable service for them- says a lot for LGB.

BTW everyone knows about the Belgian prototype known as the "non-whizzy-whizzy-crank-triple" right? Call your self train buffs...

Good for him.......use them.....thats what they are intended for.

I have loads of stuff that I have left outside, proper weathering

good to see someone who just enjoys running his trains and uses them to there best
