I purchased this a year or so ago with a view to making it look less like a museum exhibit and more like a working loco, something like this:
I got started, removed the red marker lights, painted the handrails white, removed the supplied LGB decoder planning to replace it with a Massoth LS or XLS sound decoder, when other non-railway priorities intervened. I never got around to finishing it.
Long story short, I have put back the original LGB decoder (I had to resolder the wires which I had cut) but have not attempted to replace the marker lights, which they never had anyway AFAIK. (They look really naff, they were just domed red LEDs poking through holes in the body.) I have just placed pieces of black plastic behind the holes as a temporary measure. The LEDs are included should you wish to replace them, but you might have to buy new ones with longer leads. The loco itself has hardly been run, runs well, directional and cab lights all work. The bodywork is untouched apart from the painted metal handrails, which could easily be restored to original look by scraping off the acrylic paint. Driver figure, coupling hook and instructions are included. The box is in good condition. Estimate £15 P&P to UK mainland. Details of the factory shipped model below:
RhB Class Gea 2/4 Electric Locomotive | Märklin
New ones are still available for about £550 so this is a real bargain.
Although this is an electric loco you can run it prototypically without wires as it was designed to run on batteries initially (hence Gea, "a" for akkumulator), later had a small diesel engine fitted (Gem 2/4), so it could perform shunting duties on non-electrified lines. It still runs although now in RhB orange livery.
