This absolutely fantastic railroad, features in the latest edition of Garden Railways.
It has been created by a guy who used to work for Disney Animation and his eye for detail can be seen everywhere.

Here is the video to go alongside the splendid article in the magazine.
Maybe the subject is not so fascinating if you are a Euro modeller but the guy's modelling and landscaping skills are simply up with the best.
He lives on a real canyon so even the background blends in to the overall effect. A large part of the layout was torn up and rebuilt recently.

It certainly has given me some ideas to change my own layout.

Fantastic article read it the other day just amaze's me how they get the scenery of a indoor layout outside .
Do you have the old issue Mike from several years back of the old line the layout & bridges on that were very impressive .

Yes I do have the old issue and he has made many changes to simplify the original layout.
he says as he is gettin older he needs to be able to maintain the layout more easily!
The fact that he lives in a canyon himself and the layout uses it for the background is superb.

Now it makes me think about digging up the garden and importing 50 tons of rock. (if I had the cash that is)
Mind you with all of this rain green rock would not give the impression of 'hot and dry' Colorado! Tee hee
 
I know what you mean about green rocks , when I first built my layout the sand stone was a nice bright yellow orange now it's bright green and breaking up in the frost the wall (ridge) is real bad will need to add some wooden cribbing to hold back the track and ballast yet another repair job one of several I already have .

I suppose the climate helps. As you so, too wet here in this 'green and pleasant' land. - Though it stopping for a while and things drying-out would be nice! :(

Just realised this is a simplified version of Bob Treat's railway which I first admired when it appeared in the Feb 2005 edition of Garden Railways. That was the time I was starting to build my own line and I really admired his construction techniques. I even had a go at casting my own concrete 'rocks' following his guidance in another edition before getting a couple of loads of our local red sandstone for a knock-down price.

There are a couple of garden railways which have really inspired me over the years and Snow Creek is one of them.

I did not see the first article from 2005, until a couple of years ago, It has also been one of the layouts that I admire and aspire to. Unfortunately I did not catch it before I started my own layout (2006) so did not get the benefit of his vision and ideas. I think that the Beaver Creek Railroad might have looked a little different if I had have seen it!
