Is it just me, or does that whimsical little loco in the picture seem a tad expensive (for the ready to run version) at £1,480?

Considering that the complete donor 'Percy' locomotive can be bought from TrackShack for £158.47 .... o_O

I think you probably have to appreciate the size - it's 1:8, running on 45 mm track - must be hooge :eek::eek::eek: the kit is just under £500

When you think that the equivalent kit in Gn15 is a fraction of the price at £70.

Now I'm confused by the alleged spelling mistake, as the link - spelt the same - works :think::think::think:

I see what you mean about the size of that thing - at almost 2 feet tall you'd have to keep a weather eye out for any cross wind that might be blowing across the track! .... :worried:

Perhaps they are a subsidiary of a Dutch firm? Anyway given the size of the loco wouldn't 'hoogeboob' be more appropriate?

I never spelled or misspelled anything, I just ripped it from their website.

I recently completed a 'scratch-built' loco based on the large scale Percy. ‘GRAN’. So named because 2.5 yo granddaughter wanted it that way.
The control panel features push buttons for the major operations. As this was designed for use in Papua New Guinea the push buttons are in Pidgin. D for dispela way (or forward), N for nogat (or neutral) and R for rausem dispela way (or reverse).
The whole upper part can be removed quickly at it just sits there without screws. This is so I can use the base for other models and I have already made two 'bases' in readiness for the next project/s. (This picture and text appeared on another blog that I am an occasional contributor to)
(Text checked for spelling eroors)

I guess if you ran that loco on your line, track cleaning in tunnels would be easy - you could send a child in to do it, just like they did with Victorian chimneys!

I have finally started construction of two coaches for my 'Gran' / Percy loco.

The white card base sits on a Bachman Thomas Cargo Car chassis and wheels (S.C.Ruffey) which was purchased cheaply. 4 screws release the upper part leaving the base - ready made for scratch building the top part.

The PAD (Pencil Aided Design) sketched out for sizing.

Nice work - love the acronym! I like card and wood as modelling materials - so much better to work with than plastics!

The coaches have developed further...

Roof trusses installed

The guard/brakeman's window installed on one of the coaches. I don't know what these windows are called, but they look cool. Rivets installed in lower structure.

Roof parts temporarily placed.
Next steps:
  • Painting
  • Install hand rails
  • Weathering
  • Make passengers and install
  • Glazing
  • Glue roof parts in

They're known as ducketts. Absolutely brilliant building work. Certainly a lot larger than the usual Ru of things:clap:
