I need some advice, I have an Aristo Shuttle unit. I want to slow the loco up before it comes to a stop. I have fitted 2 resistors to the track before the stops. I have noticed that the loco starts slower but dosen't slow down on deceleration. Question, do I need to fit resistors to the opposite tracks?
 
The usual method is to use a pair of top to tail rectifier diodes across a gap in one rail. This provides a consistent .7V drop for each direction of travel.

If you wire two diodes in series the volt drop would be 1.4V, and if you wanted slower acceleration than deceleration you could arrange the diodes so that you have two in series for 1.4V deceleration, and one in the reverse direction for .7v acceleration.

If you use a single resistor in place of the pair of top to tail diodes the voltage drop is not consistent as it depends on the current drawn, hence your problem.
