I always thought the chuff on William was louder than most although I couldn't understand why as the inside of the chimney is just a straight pipe.
I think Superior with a heavy train would give it a run for it's money though!

It depends if the chimney is hollow. The actual exhaust of Balloon stack on Excelsior is straight.
