Roundhose Silver lady

Hi I just treated myself a brand new Roundhouse Silver lady live steam loco, not cheap. I want to fit it with a chuffer but I don't know how to get the front off the boiler can someone help, what I would love is the build plans for this lovely loco is there somewhere I can get the plans. hope someone out there can help me with this.

Hm to properly get the Chuffer pipe in place you pretty well need to pull the thing apart that means Boiler Off then Smokebox which if I remember correct means undoing the Steam Lines to the Cylinders. Not the easiest of jobs for a beginner.

Look at the site from the guys that sold you the Chuffer Pipe which are very helpful then search Youtube Vids of fitting to give you a clue. You will also need some BA Spanner’s to undo things, DO Not rely on pliers for the small Steam Fittings as you may easily Trash them.

I was under the impression that all new Roundhouse locos came with chuffer pipes already fitted. certainly, my Darj B did, 3 years ago. Unless the Silver lady is different to the standard LA , then you only need to take the smoke box off to get to the pipe work, there are screws holding the smokebox down, 3 I think, then just a gentle 'wiggle' and it comes off, or at least that is how I fitted the chuffer to my Lady Ann.

It states that 'Silver Lady ' has an exhaust enhancer, which I think means, a chuffer already fitted!

Contact Roundhouse directly. They are very helpful and will advise you on what your Silver Lady's spec should be from its serial # and on how to fit a "sound enhancer" if needs be or who can do it for you if you feel that may be the better option. Max

P.S. I noted my 2nd hand Accucraft C-19 was making a "funny noise" when I first ran it and thought there may be a problem. Turned out it had a chuff pipe fitted. I'd never had one on any of my locos before and the (reputable) seller had not mentioned its fitting when I bought it

I remember asking them how easy would it be to fit a chuffer and they clearly said there’s no need for it. The exhaust enhancer is a fairly recent inclusion. It certainly seems to ‘chuff’ to me but as this is my first steam loco I’ve nothing to compare it with.
