Started building a RhB X9131 snowplow. Here's a link to a video of it in 1937 at the Bernina Bahn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy-H...79/5dbd58b10384494886e4dbc80487943b.jpg[/IMG]

Not wishing to hijack your thread of a superb project, but the vid is extremely interesting in its showing of Snow Cearance. I now know what a Flanger is for. That would have been the device that was pulling the Snow BACK onto the track for the following Rotary to blast it off.

Also very interesting to see the Bernina Rodless Crock #82 in action assisting the Rotary with some Grunt at the rear end.

That has the makings of a great model, I never realised the RhB had their own you tube channel too :thumbup:

The flanger at RhB is called X9132 and is based on a Norwegian version. And, yes, it is impressive to see this one and the steam rotary snow blower following very close. I've seen videos on Youtube where I can hear they blow a whistle to signal the steam blower to stop. It can't be easy to see anything when the snow is all over the place.

I have seen pictures of models of this one, very impressive models. One was sold on German ebay last year. The seller sold one of two models that he had. See this link: http://www.befr.ebay.be/itm/400354130180

Anyone thinking of modelling a g-scale field gun to start garden avalanches as shown at around 18:30, or perhaps a mortar as at 19:50?
That was a damned interesting video!

Great video!

Thanks for posting....

Does the rotary have it own motive power? I thought that only the blower was powered and they relied on external power to move.

Cylinders, anyone ? Apologies for the lens flare and the thread drift - thats a damn fine model in the making.

It has it's own motive power, but it is normally pushed by an engine.

Here's a model running on it's own... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbE0...y of the white stuff falling as I type Ian

Progress has been slow (as usual), but at least I can see the finish line now. The roof and other bits are just loose at the moment, I need to do more paint work. The base with wheels is not shown in the two pictures.

Exterior paint work done. Any suggestions for a supplier of white decals that will deliver custom made with regards to text, font and text height would be appreciated.

www.precisiondecals.co.uk will do you custom artwork if you send him an email enquiry and some photos. He'll also need some rough dimensions to be able to scale them. He prints them on an ALPS printer onto water slide transfer paper. I've used him (John) for all my custom transfer printing, but these days I do the artwork myself :)
