I have a Bachmann RGS ten wheeler. I left the cab number as it it but carefully painted over the RGS logo.
You should be able to remove the body for spraying or hand painting, masking the smokebox area - assuming that is to be left silver coloured. The coal load should be removable and the cab roof can be left oxide or sprayed black - whatever your preference. I suggest the green motion and underbelly parts would be more easily brush painted.
A model shop should be able to supply white lining for wherever you felt it was needed on the body. As for the tender name I made a inkjet printer name (my own railroad name). It was affixed with white glue. It has not `fallen off` so far, but can be easily be re-applied or re-printed. If you use Word, or similar, you can make a variety of names. Mine has a black background with gold lettering. The cab number can be done in the same way.
I thought I had a pic, but I don`t. However, the coal hopper in the pic has had the same treatment. You could keep it this way permanently or wait until decals are got. Often, I have found, your first thoughts are sometimes changed or bettered, so only a small expense is incurred by inkjet printing.
My personal preference for repainting Bachmann models is to use flat acrylic paints then coated with a matt, or not very shiny, clear coat. The green boxcar was done with this method.
