Those of you into US Fn3 round here might be wondering what to do about that age old problem of replacing lost glad hands in the balast from Bachmann 1:20.3 Spectrum and AMS 1:20.3 cars. I did a little "tutorial" on converting whitemetal hand rail knobs elsewhere in this section a couple of weeks ago http://www.gscalecentral.net/Glad-hand-from-hand-rail-stanchion-m277907 . Ok to replace Ozark's bits but a tad wee if we are talking the above stuff.

I contacted Bachmann and got the reply along the lines of - nope, don't do them, not our resposibility to do them. And, I didn't see them listed (and I didn't ask the question) on the Accucraft E-Store site.

Sooo.........methinks "why don't I use my old supplier in the resin/whitemetal moldings trade". Pop em' in a bit mold and have a few white metal replacements made. No promises but I could get some "replicas" made of the Bachmann and AMS for my "personal use".

Now don't all rush at once but .......... Anbody want some and how many ? I will have to get a cost worked out when I get the numbers. The only fly in the ointment - anybody know a reasonably priced source of the thin walled rubber hose that they fit into.

Max.

Let me know when you're going for it - I've lost a dozen or so

The cast bit is the main thing - you can always cut the last few rubber tubes in half - that'll stop 'em dangling so low that they catch the rails :cool::cool:

I would be interested in 6 pairs.
Would it also include the valve/mount to go at the other end?

Alec

Hi Max
Would need 3 or 4 Bachmann ones seems to be just the hands missing from the ends will have to check my AMS stock which i seem to think are ok .

Hi Max have you seen this http://www.thetraindepartment.com/protohands-working-glad-hands/ < Link To http://www.thetraindepart...ds-working-glad-hands/ thought it might be of interest.
Look very nice but at $5 per car (+ possible 20% vat, shipping and parcel farce handling fee). Then you got to do all your cars to make it work. A little more than I was hoping to spend. I've seen somwhere where someone has drilled the stock Bachmann/AMS items and inserted their own mini magnets (I think I know a UK supplier of those magnets)

With regards to what I propose. I need to know if Bachmann Spectrum type or AMS are required. 1:20.3 scale only. Quantities in multiples of 10 only. The hose you need to supply yourself. Unpainted white metal only. Valve/mount not included but I could look into that (I have a Bachmann part, ahem, that could be used as a universal master). Cost to be determined but as close to what it costs me as is practicable + postage UK only at Royal Mail published 2nd class rates, signed for only. Any payments, when due, Paypal only. P.M. me to confirm interest - type and quantity. I will then see what I can do. There will be no variation to terms.
Max.

Bachmann generally I would have thought - in my experience, the AMS ones don't drop off in the same manner.

Sorry but every time I read "Replacement Glad Hands" I can't help thinking about: -
