Rack Track my observations!

Over many years of being into g scale i have never used A rack system on any line I have built.

I have considered building a rack extension to a high level terminus on my current line which is small and nowhere near completed yet
The current line incorporates a sloping connection to the garage storage sidings. I purposely made part of this connection rather steep to test out rack track.
I have done this today and fitted around just 10` of rack on the steepest section.
The rack locos would only propel 2 bogie coaches up prior to fitting the rack, now they will propel 28 axles worth of stock ( all fitted with Heavy metal wheels which are approx twice the weight of LGB metal wheels) up the slope without any hesitation

Not that I would want to push this amount up normally, but i am naturally curious!

The next hurdle will be to obtain planning permission for a very narrow extension to a small terminus which `honestly`001.JPG002.JPG003.JPG will be very narrow and well concealed by the plants which i will buy at my own expense!! ;)

Those pics do make it look quite stark I will seriously have to get some plants in there soon! :D

There you go.. It has a name.. 'Stark Hill Bank' would be my choice, but any variation would do..
;) :D ;D ;D

Be careful you don't strip your gears.. :-X
