Probable cause to complain Ebay.

Ok I know this section is for highlighting items of interest, so if it needs moving then by all means, can one of the Mods do so.

A recent purchase, was delivered, package intact, its was a bit basic, no padding, which is the way I would have sent it, but looked to have been rough handled.

So when I opened it, item was not damaged, it was all there, but in two sections, it clips back together, which saved me from taking it apart anyway, which in this case I was going to do anyway.

Now to me one of two things have happened, dropped in transit, or a common part has been swapped, and then it made to look as if its been dropped in order for it to separate.

I feel as if I have potentially had a fast one pulled on me, but not sure if I have or where/who I would complain to.

Should add that the above aside I still think I got a good deal.

Any thoughts?

What is it ? First port of call should always be the delivery agent to report damaged packaging. Did you query this with the person who delivered it ? Did you take a photo before unpacking ? Is the item otherwise as described and will it fulfill the function for what it was intended ? If you are happy with it then really there is no problem to solve. Max

I am happy with the item, don't get me wrong. it looks to me as if the roof of this item has been swapped, because it looked grotty compared to the listing photos.

Treading lightly here, just in case it is someone we know.

This is it, not bothered if anyone thinks I have paid over the odds for it, I wanted it and grabbed it.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LGB-30550-RHB-Starckes-Die-Stuck-Sesselbhan-1-st-Class-Coach-Numbered-As-1171-/291461598291?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=z8jUTCffPtdwzTvIOnPJYuZSlcU%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Now it arrived with the roof off, these can be stubborn to remove at the best of times. Even without having my damaged fingers to contend with. Two of the bulbs were blown as well, but I do have spares.

You could raise the matter with the seller....

Gordon, how about contacting the seller directly with a photo of the roof as delivered?

You might get some sort of explanation or even a reduction if it clearly isn't the one in the ebay images.

Edit, Gizzy seems to have similar thoughts!

Well looking (hard) at the photos in the listing..

It looks like the roof is properly fitted..
It looks to be in good condition..

Is your roof DEFINITELY the correct model? - ridges, colour/finish, style of vent??

If the roof is definitely not as per the pictures, and description (ie. no disclosure of damage), then you have a case..
However, eBay may well say the resolution is for you to return the item, and the seller to refund you. - I doubt they would suggest the seller gives you a proportion of the monies back. - HOW MUCH DO YOU *REALLY* WANT THE ITEM??

A claim against the courier may result in an offer to settle though. - This happened with the damaged limited edition Massoth container car I had.

Right, diplomatic, message sent to seller, will wait and see.

As I have said, the item is fine etc, but not as the pics showed.

Well the reply is in....

It was fully intact when it was posted, looks like its down to Royal Mail 48 Hrs. then!!

Which begs the further question as to how long have they used Taxi drivers to deliver things?

I think the onions might have something to say if they were using private carriers to do the "final mile". Max.

Well they may well, but when he pulled up and didn't to the Egyptian Taxi Driver routine, and knocked on the door, thought it was strange.

Note despite seller's 100% feedback rating there were a couple of buyers who weren't entirely happy.

No point complaining to Ebay. Your issue is with the seller or the courier - not with ebay - they are not the supplier - the seller is.

Ebay now offers it's own "Money Back Guarantee" if the item doesn't arrive, is damaged or not as described. I would take that option if it was me - especially for that money!

Ebay photos being not very high resolution always hide minor imperfections, dust or dirt. I aways assume if listed as used the condition is a little worse that the photos make out.

.......as I have said

Looks as if it's been rough handled in transit, seller has assured me, it was as per pics (low res or not.) when posted.

So unless I can prove otherwise, guess it's down to Royal Mail.

Just it's odd, got eight coaches, and several wagons, that have come through the post in one way or another,
first one where the roof has come off, and you know what a swine they can be to get off.
