power pickup parts for a Ziller 062

I am in the process of converting a batterified by trailing van conversion ( not by me ) Zillertal 21711 loco back to track power.

Missing/cut bullets replaced
standard sliders and springs sourced
missing contact rods made
4 pole connector rewired back to standard

But I don't have the two shaped bus bars that link the 3 bullets, nor the tiny contacts between the sliders and the bottom of a contact rod

The bus bars I could possibly make from springy stuff...but the tiny flat silvery contact strips which look to be about 4 x 15 mm with a notch could be tricky, especially as I don't have one to copy

I have some L shaped brass parts which other chassis blocks use...no use here

I does occur to me that these missing parts may be common to the 262 chassis

And you guys who've gone for battery power and de-contacterised the chassis may have these knocking around

Thanks Dave for the link...

But without the parts circled in red..the sliders won't be active....

This is from an older 3 pin Ziller

I'm guessing that there is a right angle bend in the silver part.
And I did move the busbar over so you can see how the pin contacts the silver part..which then contacts the slider....

So....a trip to a hardware store... ( en route for food shopping )...both by foot....

Found these 4 blades for a pound.

Now, using some vice, I'm hoping to turn the larger one into strips suitable for bus bars...and the smaller bent contacts.
I don't want to remove the two contacts I have in the older 3 pin loco until I'm ready to copy.
Otherwise I'll put them somewhere safe....

I think the larger blade may be just a cm or two too short by the time it has some bends.
It may solder or take some tiny nuts/bolts
Alternately, I solder a link between a pair of bullets

But it's the smaller bent slider contacts that's the show stopper...and I'm fairly confident that the metal will be suitable

So.....dismantle older Ziller 062 and remove bus bars and small silver contact strip

Even the smallest filler blade can make several sets of pickup parts.

The LGB bus bar is about 0.3mm thick...the flexy filler blades are 0.25mm ish, and both bus bar and contact strip are 4mm wide.

So a session on the vice to make 4mm strips, then make replicas of the original parts

Remove red plastic handle....scribe 4mm lines....fit into vice and after a few bends forwards and backwards....

the metal breaks cleanly

Some edges need a quick file...

Now to replicate the bus bar and contact strip.

A nice afternoon sat in the sunshine, with a pair of pliers......

My third bus bar is probably the worst one

And this morning the 'cut to length' contact strip had a notch filed as the original

So, ready to fit....
