I also found this information at the German Massoth forum, it is apparantly for hooking up a Massoth 8151001. The picture shows the bottom side of the decoder according to the german description made by N. Rosch from Massoth.

Don't know Paul, but LGB were not consistent. My Rugens, Mallet and Wonky are one way round (at the multipurpose socket), all others are the other way. I found this when using trailing trucks to add extra pick ups.

Okay - so a few of the smaller locos have this type of decoder :
The socket on the top right hand corner is the track power multi purpose socket.

The question is Which pin is positive and which is negative ??

Both! The multi-purpose socket puts out unfiltered track power to be consistent with any other pickups it may be attached to along the train. On DCC that means AC (actually the DCC waveform) It can not be used to attach a power buffer.

These decoders require some very delicate soldering onto the board itself to access the DC produced by the on-board rectifier. I have details from a German-language (but very pictorial) magazine. It can;t be posted here (too large and copyright), but if you PM me with an e-mail address, I'll send you a copy.

I recommend you ask Gizzy to do the soldering for you. It is far too delicate for a general purpose modeller's soldering iron.

E mail address on the way Peter........thank you

You're welcome! File is on its way. You can also see what's required in my review of the latest Massoth power buffer:

Look for "method 4" and associated picture in the first post.

Happy to solder your Power Buffers to Decoders, for the cost of postage Paul.

Send me a PM if you'd like it done....
