For a lot less than normal model structures.

They don't do anything for me.

Maybe if they were repainted and weathered a bit they would look the part.

Great for the grand kids but not for me

A bit bright - needs an aerosol or two. A bit too basic for my taste.

I do not agree that they are short on detail. I think that they fit the bill perfectly, however they would certainly be lifted with a repaint.

Sorry not to my taste too plastic looking tend to build mine out of wood .

i love playmobil-
have admired the stuff since my son arrived some 20 yrs ago and have a basement full of knights, cowboys, and pirates- and more!

but i too of am the camp that even with paint

-the style is unique -
simply too different from everything else-trains as well as other buldings-there is something too simplified

even the bags, bottles, barrels, chests, etc all look over scale or out of proportion-and i have very low standards!

i do think that having a consistent playmobil set up-with playmobil trains could be charming in its own right, (as i think the lego trains are)
that way you create a 'world' of its own in a certain style

-its the mixing that doesnt work for me

I do tend to like the construction stuff alot along with the boats, but the rest i tend to leave to the kids. If its animals or farm type stuff i tend to go with Schleich. for long lasting kids toys though there is little to beat Playmobil.
